Extraordinary Islanders is an enormous celebration of all the amazing people in our community. It is an opportunity to applaud those who have stepped up in 2020 and shine a light on the marvellous, tenacious, compassionate, selfless and all-round amazing Manxies that surround us.
No one could have predicted how our lives were to change in 2020, but one thing that has remained a constant throughout is the magnificent Manx spirit, which continues to shine through loud and proud. This made us wonder, why aren’t we shouting through the rooftops about this?
Since Covid-19 reached our shores, our fair Isle has been flooded with positivity - people going above and beyond in the face of adversity. So, let’s take a moment and amplify that community spirit, the same spirit that got us through lockdown, and join together in one big celebration of our Extraordinary Islanders!
The way Extraordinary Islanders works is simple! We’re inviting everyone to get their thinking caps on and put forward Islanders they think are deserving of a little love and appreciation this year - whether that’s a loved one, neighbour, friend, business or charity - across seven different sponsored categories.
Top tip: it is important you read the descriptions of each award so you can enter your nominee into the right category.
Following the closure of nominations in November, all entries will be considered and judged by the sponsors of each category, who will have the difficult task of whittling nominations down into a shortlist. The finalists of each category will then be put to a public vote opening in January 2021 – so the winner of each award is down to you!

We want the efforts of all our Manxies to be recognised and everyone to feel like a winner, so throughout the campaign we will be showering our Extraordinary Islanders with praise, and perhaps even the odd little surprise…
